The Ground Model Viewer

The Geocap Viewer is a window within ArcGIS Pro that offers 3D viewers, 2D cross-section viewers, and log viewers. Each Ground Model Viewer is associated with a specific ArcGIS Pro Map, and only one Ground Model Viewer can be attached to a map at a time. Closing the map will automatically close the associated Ground Model Viewer.

To open a Ground Model Viewer:

  1. Activate (select) the desired map to which you want to attach the Ground Model Viewer.

  2. Access the Ground Model toolbar.

  3. If the Ground Model Viewer does not appear automatically, click the "New Viewer" button. The viewer tab will be named after the associated map.

The Ground Model Contents pane

The Geocap Contents Pane mirrors the contents of the associated map. This pane allows you to toggle elements on or off, modify display settings such as symbology and layer properties for the data.

3D Scene

The 3D scene lets you visualize seismic data, boreholes, in addition to standard ArcGIS data types such as feature classes and rasters.

To navigate the 3D Scene:

·         Rotate – Press left mouse button and move the mouse

·         Zoom – Scroll up on the mouse wheel to zoom inn and scroll down to zoom out

·         Pan – Press right mouse button and move the mouse

·         Set rotation/focus point – Point mouse and double left click

Cross Section Viewer

The Cross Section Viewer allows the user to view 3D and 2D seismic in a plane cross section view. The viewer will show intersection with surfaces as lines and intersecting lines and polygons are shown as points. Additionally, nearby elements can be projected onto the cross section using the buffer option on the toolbar.

To navigate the 2D Viewer:

·         Pan – Press and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse.

·         Zoom – Scroll up on the mouse wheel to zoom inn and scroll down to zoom out

To modify the direction of the seismic line, click the "Flip Axis" button located on the Ground Model toolbar.

Log viewer

The Log Viewer provides a visual representation of well logs from multiple boreholes, displayed side by side. It supports the visualization of both continuous curves and discrete interpretations. The display of boreholes and logs can be controlled through the Ground Model Contents Pane. If a raster, such as an interpreted surface, is turned on in the Ground Model Contents Pane and intersects with the borehole, it will be visualized as a horizontal line at the corresponding depth in the Log Viewer.

The Log Viewer is linked to the cross section viewers and 3D scenes, tracking the mouse cursor's position. As you move the cursor up and down within the Log Viewer, an annotation marker will simultaneously move along the borehole path in the other viewers, providing synchronized navigation and reference across the different views.
