Introduction

The seismic interpretation tool lets you interpret horizons, faults and observations. This can be done both manually and automatically.

The structure of a horizon in Geocap is as follows:

  • One horizon can contain interpretation for several seismic lines
  • Each line can have many segments
  • Each segment can have many picks

This means that each horizon will normally contain thousands of picks along different seismic lines. Each pick is stored with the following information:

  • Time value
  • Seismic line name
  • Shot point

The seismic interpretation tool can be found under Tools -> XI Interpretation.

The Data section lets you browse in, create new or edit existing interpretation folder and horizons. There are also options for selecting which seismic line to interpret and what to display for each seismic line and horizon

...

The Erase section lets you delete segments of an interpreted line. You can delete a segment between two selected points, between the start of the line and a selected point or between a selected point and the end of the line.
