Introduction

The cross section window in Geocap is used for several thingspurposes:

  • Display existing profiles from the project.
  • Display custom profiles from grids.
  • Display seismic lines, their corresponding interpretations and crossing lines.
  • Display pointcloud data.
  • Display and Edit multibeam survey data (only Geocap Seafloor only).

Display an existing profile

Toolbar:

Image Added - Browse in a cross section (line or seismic line) or digitize a new cross section.
Image Added - Browse for crossing lines or a seismic lines interpretation (iHorizon).
Image Added - Save cross section as an image.
Image Added - Save the extent of your cross section view as a rectangle in the project.
Image Added - Flip the cross section.
Image Added - Zoom to a certain extent.
Image Added - Step out with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
Image Added - Step in with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
Point projection distance: - The distance, in meters, where points on each side will be projected onto the cross section

Legend:

Right click elements in the legend to Rename, Remove or Edit (change point/line type, color width etc.)

Image Added - Position the legend

Navigate:
  • Scroll the mouse wheel to adjust the z-scale.
  • Right click and move the mouse to zoom in and out
  • Left click and move the mouse to pan.

Display an existing profile

  1. Click the small triangle next to the Image Added icon and click Image Added Browse cross section.
  2. Browse for the profile you want to view

The profile is now shown in the cross section window.

Display a custom profile from a grid

  1. Display

...

  1. the grid in the 3D window.
  2. Click the Image Added icon on the toolbar, browse for the grid and click OK
  3. Click the small triangle next to the Image Added icon and click Image Added Digitize cross section.
  4. Use the left mouse button to digitize two points in the 3D window, where you want the profile to go.

The profile is now shown in the cross section window, with its corresponding profile in the 3D window.

Tip

Click and drag the gray area in the 3D window to move the cross section, or use the spheres to re-size or change the direction of the profile. The cross section window is updated accordingly.

Display a seismic line

  1. Click the small triangle next to

...

  1. the Image Modified

...

  1. icon and click Image Added Browse cross section.

  1. Browse for the seismic line you want to view and click OK'

The seismic line is now shown in the cross section window.Interpretation, and crossing lines can also be displayed on top

Display Ihorizons

  • Click the Image Added icon on the toolbar, browse for the Ihorizon and click OK
Tip

Change color table of the seismic

...

line by dragging a color table from the Toolbox and dropping it on the seismic line in the cross section window.
