The window
The cross section window can be opened from Windows > New > Cross Section Window
Toolbar:
- Browse in a cross section (line or seismic line) or digitize a new cross section.
- Browse for crossing lines or a seismic lines interpretation (iHorizon).
- Save cross section as an image.
- Save the extent of your cross section view as a rectangle in the project.
- Flip the cross section.
- Zoom to a certain extent.
- Step out with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
- Step in with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
Point projection distance: - The distance, in meters, where points on each side will be projected onto the cross section
Legend:
Right click elements in the legend to Rename, Remove or Edit (change point/line type, color width etc.)
- Position the legend
Navigate:
- Scroll the mouse wheel to adjust the z-scale.
- Right click and move the mouse to zoom in and out
- Left click and move the mouse to pan.
Display an existing profile
...
- Click the small triangle next to
...
- the
...
- icon and click Browse cross section.
...
- Browse for the profile you want to view
...
- and click OK
The profile is now shown in the cross section window.
Display a custom profile from a grid
- Display
...
- the grid in the 3D window.
- Click the icon on the toolbar, browse for the grid and click OK
- Click the small triangle next to the icon and click Digitize cross section.
- Use the left mouse button to digitize two points in the 3D window, where you want the profile to go.
The profile is now shown in the cross section window, with its corresponding profile in the 3D window.

Click and drag the gray area in the 3D window to move the cross section, or use the spheres to re-size or change the direction of the profile. The cross section window is updated accordingly. |
Display a seismic line
- Click the small triangle next to

- icon and click Browse cross section.

- Browse for the seismic line you want to view and click OK'
The seismic line is now shown in the cross section window.Interpretation, and crossing lines can also be displayed on top
Display Ihorizons
- Click the icon on the toolbar, browse for the Ihorizon and click OK
