Save Screenshot Tool

The Save Screenshot tool, located on the Ground Model Toolbar, allows you to capture and save images from the active Cross Section Viewer, 3D Scene, or Log Viewer in the Geocap Viewer. Screenshots can be created manually or generated automatically from a selection of seismic lines, with or without seismic interpretation. Automatic screenshot generation integrates well with the map series and dynamic pictures functionality in ArcGIS Pro.

Output Options

When the tool is opened, choose the desired output format:

  • As File(s):
Save the screenshot(s) as .jpg files in a specified folder.

    • Enter the destination folder and file name.

    • If multiple screenshots are generated, file names use the specified prefix plus incremental numbering.

  • New Feature Class with Image Attachment:
Store each screenshot as an image attachment in a new feature class in the specified geodatabase.

    • Each screenshot is saved as a separate feature.

    • The attribute table stores details such as image size, resolution, and displayed data.

    • The feature’s geometry represents the geographic area covered by the screenshot.

  • Append to Feature Class with Image Attachment:
Same as above, but the images are appended to an existing feature class.

  • New Feature Class with Image URL:
Save each screenshot to a specified folder, and store the corresponding URL as an attribute in a new feature. The feature is added to a new feature class.

    • Each screenshot is represented as a separate feature.

    • The attribute table stores metadata (image size, resolution, displayed data).

    • The feature’s geometry represents the geographic area covered by the screenshot.

  • Append to Feature Class with Image URL:
Same as above, but features are appended to an existing feature class.

Size Settings

Screenshot size can be defined in three ways:

  • Current View – Captures the current display.

  • Pixel Dimensions – Specify width/height in pixels.

  • Millimeters – Specify width/height in millimeters.

For Current View and Millimeters, resolution can also be set. All images can be scaled.

Cross Section Viewer Settings

When capturing screenshots from the Cross Section Viewer, the following layout options are available:

  • Show Title – Toggle on/off and adjust font scale.

  • Show Shot Point Axis – Toggle on/off and set shot point increment.

  • Show Y Axis – Toggle on/off and set increment (time/depth).

  • Show Profile Distance Axis – Toggle on/off and set increment (meters).

  • Show Y Axis Grid Lines – Toggle on/off and set line width.

  • Show Profile Distance Grid Lines – Toggle on/off and set line width.

Multiple Screenshots

The Multiple Screenshot option generates one image per selected seismic feature.

  • Seismic Lines: One image is generated for each selected seismic line in the chosen feature class.

  • Seismic Interpretation:

    • Single-feature interpretation: One image per seismic line.

    • Multi-feature interpretation: One image per interpretation feature on each seismic line.

Selections can be made in the map or the attribute table. If no selection is made, screenshots are created for all features in the feature class.

A Zoom Out Factor can be applied to include extra space around the seismic feature.

All generated screenshots are listed in the dropdown field at the bottom of the tool.

  • Preview: Displays the screenshot in the active window according to the current settings.

  • Take Screenshot: Captures a single image of the current display.

  • Multiple Screenshot: Captures images for all selected features in one operation.
