Publishing Seismic Data to Seismic Server

Data in a Ground Model project can be shared with other stakeholders via an online application. This is done with Geocap's Subsurface Portal. In this section the streamlined workflow for preparing and publishing seismic data from ArcGIS Pro to the Seismic Server is described. The steps vary slightly depending on data format (SEG-Y, VDS, ZGY or rasters) and whether files already reside on a server-accessible location. The core process is:

  1. Import seismic files using Ground Model add-in for ArcGIS Pro (see Importing Seismic Data). In this step a seismic feature class containing the seismic navigation and URL paths to the actual seismic is generated. SEG-Y files will be converted to either VDS or Raster files in this step.

  2. Optionally verify seismic conversion by visualization in the Ground Model viewer.

  3. Copy VDS files, rasters, or ZGY files to a server accessible location.

  4. Update the URL field in the seismic feature class to reflect the new storage location. This way the files are available in a directory accessible by the ArcGIS Server hosting the Seismic Server SOE

  5. Create a map containing seismic navigation features.

  6. Publish the feature class as a Map Service with the Seismic Server capability enabled.

The map service will now be available for embedding into Web AppBuilder or Experience Builder applications and visualization in Geocap’s custom widget.
