Introduction

The cross section window in Geocap is used for several things:

  • Display existing profiles from the project.
  • Display custom profiles from grids.
  • Display seismic lines, their corresponding interpretations and crossing lines.
  • Edit multibeam survey data (only Geocap Seafloor)

The window

The cross section window can be opened from Windows > New > Cross Section Window

Toolbar:

- Browse in a cross section (line or seismic line) or digitize a new cross section.
- Browse for crossing lines or a seismic lines interpretation (iHorizon).
- Save the extent of your cross section view as a rectangle in the project.
- Flip the cross section.
- Zoom to a certain extent.
- Step out with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
- Step in with the digitized profile. Step length is 2 x Point projection distance
Point projection distance: - The distance, in meters, where points on each side will be projected onto the cross section

Legend:

- Position the legend
Right click elements in the legend to rename, change line/point color, type, width etc.

Display an existing profile

To load an existing profile into the cross section window click the small triangle next to the   icon and click browse cross section. Then browse for the profile you want to view.

Crossing lines can also be displayed as vertical lines by clicking the  icon and browsing for the dataset.

Display a custom profile from a grid

Display a seismic line

To load a seismic line into the cross section window click the small triangle next to the   icon and click browse cross section. Then browse for the seismic line you want to view.

Interpretation, and crossing lines can also be displayed on top of the seismic by clicking the   icon and browsing for the dataset.
