How do I change the name of a project (or move it to another folder)?

We recommend to backup your project and confirm that the name change was done properly before deleting the backup.

 

Example: A project located in 

C:/Geocap/Projects/Norway/db/Norway.db

I want to change the name of the project from Norway to Russia

Changing the name of a project involves the following steps:

  1. Open the project in Geocap
  2. Click the  icon on the project toolbar.
  3. in the General section change the Name of the project to Russia
  4. Click OK
  5. Save and close the project
  6. In the project folder on disk change the name of the *.db file to  Russia.db
  7. Change also the path, so that  the full path now is  C:/Geocap/Projects/Russia/db/ Russia.db 

Note that:

  1. The change of the name of the db-file and the folders is not strictly necessary, but it is recommended.
  2. This change is not supported by workflows or plotting. Which means you have to re-select the project datasets in the workflow/plot in order to update the path.
  3. Because of the path change you will not be able to load the project from Recent projects the first time you open the project after it has changed.
