I want to give my project to someone else. What do I do?

The best way to give a project to another Geocap users is to zip it and then send it.

All Geocap projects are stored in a folder on your computer. This folder has the same name as your project, and contains a folder called "db".

Geocap projects can however often be very large, and you might not want to send the whole project, only a few datasets. If this is the case you can create a new project, copy some of the datasets or folders into it and then zip and send it.

To copy datasets and folders into a new project:

  1. Open the main project you want to copy files from
  2. In the Geocap main window, go to File > New > Project
  3. Select a project template, project name and path.
  4. Click Finish. Your new project will now appear.
  5. In the main project find the datasets and/or folders you want to copy, right-click and select Copy
  6. In the new project right-click a folder and select Paste (if you copied a whole folder you can use the  icon to paste it on top level).
  7. When you have copied all the datasets over to the new project make sure to save it.
  8. Then go to the project on disk and zip it as explained above.

To zip a project and send it to another Geocap user:

  1. Find the folder with the same name as your project
  2. Right-click the folder and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder

You should now have a file called your_project_name.zip, that you distribute via email, Skype, FTP etc.
