Measure

The Ground Model add-in lets you measure distance in the active 2D or 3D scene by clicking the measure button in the GM toolbar. Click on the first point where distance should be measured from. A single click will set a new point in a path and a double click will end it. The measuring dialog will report the distances. It will contain the following information:

-Measuring method: Choose whether the distance between the selected data points is calculated using planar or geodetic calculation.

-Horizontal unit: The unit used for horizontal distances

-Horizontal path distance: The total horizontal distance of all line segments. No depth distance is included.

-Horizontal net distance: The horizontal distance between the first and last measuring points. No depth distance is included.

-Vertical net distance: The pure vertical distance between the first and last measuring points. No horizontal distance is included.

Scenic Effects

A nice-looking scenery with water and sky surrounding your other data is available for the 3D scene in GM by checking off the scenic effects option in the GM toolbar. In addition, it is possible to change point symbols. If, for example, you would like wind turbine locations to be displayed as wind turbines and not points, this is an option under the settings in the TOC (right click the wind turbine locations). At the bottom of the advanced tab, select the wind turbine symbol and adjust to the desired size.

Z Scale

It is possible to adjust the Z Scale (vertical exaggeration) of the 3D Scene, 2D Scene and Log viewer.

To change the Z Scale:

  1. Click the window you want to change the Z Scale to activate it (the frame should be blue)

  2. Use the Z Scale spin box on the toolbar to adjust the multiplication of the Z values
