Introduction

Geocap supports the following data sources that are typically found in GIS environments:

  • ArcGIS support through the Datalink for ArcGIS plugin. Use this plugin to read, write and visualize Esri data.
  • Vector data and raster files supported by the GDAL community toolkit. These types of files will be referred to as geospatial files. See the GDAL website for more information on supported formats. Read more about Geospatial Files.


The generic term Data Source and Connection will be used for file-based data as well as database connections.

Geocap versions prior to 6.5 had spesific support for ArcSDE. This has been replaced by the more general Datalink for ArcGIS plugin.
