Visualizing Seismic
Once a SEG-Y/VDS file has been read and converted to a feature class the associated amplitudes can be viewed in the Geocap viewer. Open a Geocap viewer if none is open. The feature that has been created will be located in the ArcGIS Pro Contents. Click on the “Add Data From Map” button on the Geocap Toolbar to make the seismic available for display in the Geocap TOC and viewer.
Visualizing Seismic in 3D Scene
Open the Geocap Table of Contents (TOC) by clicking the Geocap TOC pane or “Contents” in the Geocap toolbar. Toggle off the seismic items you would like to display. The seismic will appear in the active 3D Scene. Note that the seismic lines might be displayed directly from above, in which case only single lines will be visible. If so, try to pan, rotate and zoom to display the seismic as you wish. Adjusting the Z scale might also improve the display.
If you would like to zoom in on the seismic line in the 3D scene, right-click the seismic item in the TOC and click “Zoom to”.
Visualizing Seismic in 2D Scene
If you would like to display a seismic 2D line in the 2D scene, activate the 2D scene and toggle off the line of interest in the TOC.
Alternatively, it is possible to use the “Select” button in scene group in the Ground Model Toolbar to select the seismic you would like to display from the map.
Make sure the seismic navigation is toggled off in the ArcGis Pro content pane and visible in the map. Click the seismic navigation line in the map after activating the display button. The selected line will be highlighted and the data seismic line will appear in the active 3D or 2D scene in the viewer within a few seconds (if the line does not show up in the 3D scene, the seismic parent level might need to be toggled on in the TOC).
If you wish to display an xline/inline/timeslice from a 3D seismic, right click the cube of interest in the TOC and select “view slices”. A dialog box will appear where the desired slice can be selected. Note that if a different 3D seismic cube is displayed in the 2D viewer, the “view slices” will still point to the previously displayed cube. To update to the new cube, “view slices” must be reselected in the TOC, this time for the new cube.
Clicking the Flip Axis button on the GM toolbar, while the 2D scene is active, will flip the seismic line in the opposite direction.
Changing Seismic Display Appearance
More settings are available for displayed seismic lines by right clicking the seismic parent level or individual lines in the TOC and selecting “settings” .
Under the Data tab , the displayed data range can be narrowed or widened either by adjusting the % max and min cut simultaneously or individually by dragging the dots back and forth. It is also possible to enter the values manually. The seismic appearance will change accordingly.
Under the display tab, the current seismic color scale can be flipped, or a new color scale selected. A number of color scales are available by scrolling the side bar downwards.
