Common questions about updates

Why should I update to 6.4.x if I am happy with 6.4.0?

Security and improved functionality. (Critical) bugfixes. New or improved functionality.

Do I need a new license file?

No, for these release updates you do not need a new license file.

Do I need to uninstall the previous Geocap version?

No, it is not required, and it is wise to keep the older version until you have installed and verified the new. But then, to be sure to avoid confusion and to always use the newest version, we strongly advice you to uninstall the older version.

Why so many updates?

After a release we sometimes receive feedback from our users on things that are not working 100% as they ought to. Sometimes we also make minor improvements or add functionality rather than postponing to a new major release.

  • Fixed error that occured when closing a Cross Section Window.
  • Project upgrade will now report datasets with problems, and continue upgrading on other datasets, instead of aborting when encountering problems.
  • Fixed error with KB, LAT, LONG in LAS Import.
  • Fixed error where the Project View got distorted after depth converting horizons.
  • Display FOS point on bathymetric folder now uses sphere marker.
  • ASCII import will now verify that fields specified in the import menu actually gets imported. The user  will get an issue report if fields are not imported.
  • TGS Velocity import now stores data as lines (not points).
  • Fixed error with improper accuracy in plotting of selected points in 2D in Table View .
  • Fixed error that caused Vertical Image Calibration to fail.
  • Seismic Interpretation will now only let the user select seismic lines or VCI.
  • FOS analysis will now show the correct method used for calculating FOS.
  • The red error message that was displayed when displaying large images has been replaced with a warning.
  • Fixed error that occured when creating boundary in the Gridding Files command.
  • Wildcard now works on filters.
  • Select project object from grahics now works for list view.
  • Fixed a problem with parabolic gridding.
  • Overwrite is set at default for manual interpretation in seismic interpretation .
  • Seismic cross section view now longer overwrite color tables with absolute range.
  • New datarecords implemented when reading binary SimradXYZ data. Not yet added as field data
  • Fixed EM12 import by swapping of bytes in the datagrams
  • Fixed an error in display of TVU/THU points.
  • Implemented two new columns containing start and stop time for sonar data in the File Properties dialog
  • Geometry of multibeam data in 3D window and Cross Section is now updated after, for instance, changing the roll offset of the survey lines.
