5. Multibeam

In this section:

Introduction

This section contains the documentation on operations which can be performed from a folder of schema type Multibeam in a Geocap Seafloor project.

The content of the folder

The Multibeam folder contains the data and the tools for working with Multibeam Sonar data in a Geocap Seafloor project. The Multibeam folder is located under the Survey folder, and a Geocap Seafloor project can contain several Multibeam folders. The Survey folder menu contains tools for creating new Multibeam folders.

The Multibeam folder structure.

The Multibeam folder is is where the multibeam sensor data can be loaded. Each data file will be saved as a Multibeam Survey, also referred to as a Survey Line. The Multibeam Survey data model has a strict organisation with predefined data sets. Some data sets are required to be able to convert the depth data from survey to world coordinates. And some data sets are optional, dependent on the content of the data file.

The data model for multibeam sonar data can be seen in the table below:

The Multibeam folder tools

The Multibeam folder contains several menu items on the right click menu. The tools for multibeam data are located on the top of the menu, and listed in the graphic below. The functionality of each of the tools is described later in this section.
